History

1969 "GORYOHKAI", group of mutual support for ostomates, was established.
1976 Affiliated to International Ostomy Association (IOA).
1986 Was entrusted of gNormalization of Life of Ostomates to the Communityh projects from several local authorities, resulting in expansion of its scope of activity.
1989 Changed the name to "Japan Ostomy Association, Inc.", with the authorization by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as an Incorporated Body.
1999 Received the Health and Culture Prize from the Ministry of Health and Welfare on JOA's 30th anniversary.
