Achievements of JOA

1977	Welfare pension for peoples with disabilities.
1982	Ostomates were certified as the handicapped person and entitled to the subsidy for acquiring ostomy appliances.
1984	Disabled Person's Fundamental Law for Ostomates was enforced.
1986	Revision of the Certificate Criterion resulted in subsidiary for acquiring ostomy appliances and deduction of income tax, etc.
1989	Income tax deduction for payment for ostomy appliances was approved.
1991	Exemption of consumption tax for ostomy appliances was enforced.
2003	By the revision of the Standards of Certification of the Physically Handicapped, all the ostomates become to be certified as the physically handicapped immediately after the ostomy surgery and become applicable to relevant welfare systems for ostomates.
2006	Installation of so-called "Ostomy Toilet" is being increased at the rest rooms of the service areas of expressways, railway stations and public facilities in Japan.
