Foundation

1969	Group of mutual support "GORYOHKAI" was organized.
1976	Affiliated to IOA.
1989	Changed the name to "Japan Ostomy Association, Inc." Authorized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as an Incorporated Body

Missions Of JOA

(1)	To spread knowledge and education concerning ostomy and stoma care
(2)	To conduct study and research on care and rehabilitation for ostomates
(3)	To conduct guidance on healthcare for ostomates and their families
(4)	To promote International exchange and cooperation with IOA , AOA, and other related organizations
(5)	To train and dispatch Ostomy Visitor with the help of medical professionals
(6)	Other activities in line with JOA goal
